Starting from ZERO? 10 points for the best advice. Thank you?

I am a foreign student. I will graduate in May. I have two plans for my future:

1.) Go back home and work

2.) Do OPT in US for a year (for experience and save my money), Then go back home next summer.

Regardless of the choice I will should. I will have to start from ZERO because I do not have anything besides little skills and knowledge, but tons of self-determination.

I am 22 years old female. I will have MPA in May. I would like to work for Non-Profit organizations. My goal is to help people and be happy with myself. Sometimes, it is hard because you have nothing right now. lol :)

Please advice. Thank you.Starting from ZERO? 10 points for the best advice. Thank you?
The US has a lot of opportunity in the not for profit sector. So if you can stay for a year under a practical training visa and get some experience, it sounds like a good idea! You can either then be sponsored for a visa to stay on or return to your home country with experience to help you get a job.

Many university graduates don't have a lot of experience on their resume, so don't be dissuaded. The two most important things are:

1) A good resume -- if you lack experience, highlight your educational background and any clubs or sports you participated in. Definitely mention any internships. Be sure the resume is accurate, spell-checked, and proof read by a friend or two. Include objectives so employers will know what you want. A good resume will help you get an interview.

2) Ability to articulate why you want to do this job (what your goals are, how you became interested, if you have any relevant education, etc.). It helps to research the agency so you are familiar with their mandate and objectives, so you can sound knowledgeable.

Good luck!Starting from ZERO? 10 points for the best advice. Thank you?
The choice is obvious. It would be of greater help for you to gain some experience that you can apply when you get home to your country.

Secondly, only when you do work will you be able to save money . You are on to a good start if you have lots of determination as that coupled with knowledge will definitely be your stepping stone to a successful career in the future.

Lastly, if your goal is to help people ..then your choice of a non profit organisation would be ideal in realising that objective.

As one spiritual leader said ';Service to Men is service to God';

All the best.
When you have something you have more options. Those options are what cause the dilemmas in life. When you have nothing you don't have to: protect it, spend it, keep it, move it, give it, or lose it. Nothing can give you more freedom then having something you don't need.

Does he like me? 10 points to best advice!?

He and I have an AP Econ class together. He's one of the guys who slacks off, but is totally smart and would have awesome grades if he just kind of applied himself. He and I used to sit next to each other and we talked a lot. After lunch a mutual friend, him and I all walk back to class. Our friend always does stupid things by trying to make him trip, or pushing in the back of his knee to make his leg buckle. Then they guy I like always makes a comment along the lines of, ';dude, you know that it's coming,'; and then he'd wait and trip him back. It sounds very childish, but it's funny to watch. He has started to check to see if I'm laughing. He also trys to make comments that make him sound cool. For example, ';Oh my car is cool it's a Hyundai.'; Or, ';Yeah, I got a 33 on my ACT.'; I really like him and I was wondering if he was just being a guy, or he liked me. How can I really get him to like me if he already doesn't? Thanks!Does he like me? 10 points to best advice!?
What I would do is join the fun and have a quick little come back of your own! Also you can look him straight in the eyes for a min and give him the biggest smile you have...that will get things started....doesn't hurt to blush a little either! LOL!

G.e.d help!, please give your best advice.?

Ok this year was rough, I dropped out of high school after the 1st semester I was a senior and I felt like I was getting ripped off as far as my education went. So i decided that was that, I went on to take a few classes at a community college I took 12 credits there. Now I have the option to go to marin college near san fran and i was told you do not need a GED or high school diploma to receive a degree but for moral sake should i still get my GED over the summer? or should i blow it off? please help! im confused and my parents seem to give a crap about this issue.G.e.d help!, please give your best advice.?
I dont no of respecitble college that doesnt require a GED or DiplomaG.e.d help!, please give your best advice.?
Trust me, you should finish off highschool. I know many a person that blew off high school, and you want to what they have accomplished, nothing. Get the highschool deploma and then you will have so many more options for your future. just don't take the ';easy way out'; because that will end up biting you in the butt in the future harder then you ever knew posible
just study and take the test. it cant hurt to try. it'll help you in the long run because eventually you will want to do it.
college of marin? i go there and you should get the ged and look for another college, they will rip you off big time.
get the GED just incase this place turns out to be a real rip off.

everything you described is perfectly normal. just relax and take it easy. im sure he likes you too or he wouldnt be going out with you. yes! you should give him a chance. if you are both shy, just start off talking about your day. then you can get into talking about what you each like to do during the summer...and pretty soon you'll be having conversations that you both find interesting. just dont sweat it and relax.10 first boyfriend questions[10 points for best advice]?

  • Looking for advice on the best way to invest $20,000 as someone in my mid-20's??

I am looking for advice on the best way to invest $20,000.00 I recently turned 25. I am not looking to purchase a home until my late 20's as I may need to travel/relocate within the next couple years for work.

I do have a 6 month emergency fund available, and I am able to pay all bills with my current income, so I will not need the $20K for at least a couple years. I don't have much credit card debt, but I do have a student loan.

I am looking for the highest rate of return, and I am open to taking investment risks. I would like to learn about investing in stocks/mutual funds, but I don't know if I have enough experience/knowledge to start myself, and wouldn't know where to begin with this sum of money.

Any input/suggestions appreciated!Looking for advice on the best way to invest $20,000 as someone in my mid-20's??
GET OUT OF DEBT... STAY OUT OF DEBT!! USE THE MONEY TO PAY OFF YOUR DEBTS, AND THEN INVEST THE REST IN A ROTH IRA (A long-term retirement fund with investement options). YOU ARE VERY LUCKY TO HAVE THAT MONEY, BUT DEBT IS NO FUN... PAY YOUR DEBT!Looking for advice on the best way to invest $20,000 as someone in my mid-20's??
first of all pay off your credit card debt- whatever rate you get on any investment probably wont match what you are losing on the interest from your credit card debts

I would diversify through mutual funds at scottrade.com.

I would also look into emigrantdirect.com, ingdirect.com, hsbc.com and open a high yield savings account for all of your emergency funds and whatever you dont invest- i use emigrantdirect.com and they pay a little over 5% interest.
Open a brokerage account at Zecco and invest in the Vice Fund.
You might $5K each into a domestic equities small-cap fund, a domestic equities large-cap fund, an ';emerging markets'; fund, and then a broad-market tracking ';ETF'; like SPY, DIA, or even IWB (if you are ';conservative';).

In your 20's you have a 40-50 year investment horizon for retirement, you can very reasonably expect $20, 000 dollars to become about $350,000 at retirement even if you never saved another penny!

Congratulations on making a great start.

although you say you don't want to buy a home, real estate is still one of the best investments you can make. consider buying land in a fast growing area, such as tourism communities, commercial development areas, and any where there is steady rapid growth over a number of years. or maybe consider investing in real estate investment trusts(reits) .... good luck.
PUT 5K IN DANS 5K IN ALT SELL EACH AS THEY HIT $2

ROTH IRA. You don't pay a dime for any interest earned.
I'm in a similar situation- mid 20s, no house, no debt, and a decent chunk of money to throw around. Since you are new to investing, I would not recommend purchasing individual stocks. This is not a game for novices. Even professionals may get lucky with a few good picks, but very few people can make picks that beat the market over the long term. For most investors, index funds provide the greatest long-term return of any type of investment. An index fund is similar to a mutual fund, but they charge much lower management fees and almost always perform better over the long-term because of the lower fees.

Some people have mentioned a ROTH-IRA. This is a good idea, as it allows your money to grow tax-free, but be aware that you will incur penalties if you take it out before retirement age and that you can only put 4k per year into a ROTH-IRA.
Hi, I'm Faizal. I can guide you on this. Kindly email or YM me at aj_log@yahoo.com.sg, YM id: aj_log for further info.
Invest in the forex market! But for starters only invest 10k if your are satisfied with the profits invest more! And from personal experience you will invest more and more! Of course there is always the chance of losing some of your money, but with a experienced trader you could also increase your 10k substantially. I am a forex trader for a firm located in Texas and if you want more info contact me. There are a lot of ways to make a profit of off your 20K, I see it happen 6 days a week. The market is closed on Saturday! lol

I did something dumb. What is the best advice to give me?

Hey all...I really did something dumb that is really out of my nature. I stole sumthin under $10 from Wal-mart....and it was me and my friends. Obviously we got caught but neither of us was arrested. We jus went to the back and follow what they were saying. When the police came they had talked to each of us and ask why. I replied no reason jus being a follower. We was talking about their experience of dealing with situations as such. This is my first offense and they pulled up my record and saw that it was clear. However,I am not allowed to go back to the store. what i dont understand why they wrote a summon to appear in front of the judge. They said its not a big offense and they said do not do it again. I went to court and the judge jus called the names and asked do i want a public offender or what? i said yes (i guess). and i got to go back in July. I mean, whats up? What do you think i should do? I called the public offender and she said waive it but how? what do you think?I did something dumb. What is the best advice to give me?
Whats Up? Wanna take a guess?

What is up, is that you were caught shoplifting, were issued a criminal summons to appear in court, and will face trial unless you plead guilty. Your court appointed attorney likely waived your ';prelim'; and in July you will face the judge. Furthermore you have been ';trespassed'; from not only this Walmart, but from every Wlamart in the country. You return and you will be arrested or cited.

Although you were not physically arrested and booked, this will show on your criminal history.

As for what I think, you made a stupid mistake. Choose your friends better in the future. You are not going to be found not guilty...so when you go to court in July take a plea, and let this be the last time you see the inside of a courtroom.I did something dumb. What is the best advice to give me?
you stole an item. without a reason to do so.

    public defender is your lawyer.

    You plead guilty as charged.

you have a record - get a REAL lawyer!
You do not say how old you are, but I am assuming you are a teenager (from the way that your question is composed). If so, you should talk this over with either of your parents (which ever you are closer to). They are only interested in what will be best for your future. If you have any legal questions about going to court in July, you should contact the public defender again and make sure that he/she answers all of your questions until you fully understand what is best for you and what the consequences will be .
Well, sounds like you are being charged with a misdemeanor. The public defender probably means to waive the court date because she intends on having you plead guilty. That is normally why they waive a court date, usually a pre-trial. An attorney will waive a pre-trial date if the defendant is going to plead guilty. If you plead guilty, why have a pre-trial? They may give you a break if you are a minor. No, it isn't a huge crime, but it will go on your record. Sometimes they can work things out with the prosecutor to have the charge cleared from your record if you complete probation successfully. A Public defender is a lawyer assigned to you by the state. It is a lawyer you do not have to pay for, athough they still might make you pay something when this is all said and done. Don't do this again.
